It is easy to register your time for different subtasks from the task board. For which price list item time is registered is decided in the Task templates. The way the time is registered depends on the setting ‘Time registration from the task board’ (General settings > Task management). This setting has one of three possible values: Click to open registration form, Open form on task completion and Automated time registration.
Click to open registration form
This is the method without any form of automation: you need to click the watch icon to open the registration form, when you want to register time.
The form opens with the default duration (from the Task templates) pre-filled. That duration is edited (or not) before confirming the registration.
Show form on task completion
The form opens with the default duration (from the Task templates) pre-filled. That duration is edited (or not) before confirming the registration.
Automated time registration
With this setting, the way time is registered further depends on the type of subtask. (Subtask types)
For an actual task a timer is started when it is dragged to ‘In progress’.
When the timer is stopped, a registration is made for the measured time, if that is more than 2 minutes. A timer stops when the task is dragged to ‘Done’. For each registration made a confirmation message is displayed in the bottom right corner of your screen. Click on this message to edit the registration.
The timer can also be stopped with a click on the pause icon. Then also, time will be registered. To start the timer again, click the start icon.
Tip: Only one timer can be running at any given time. If the timer of a task is started while one for another subtask is running, the latter one will be stopped, and its time will be registered.
In the main menu this icon signals a running timer in the task board:
For a task with a default duration, no timer is started when it is moved to "In Progress". But when moved to "Completed", the time set in the task templates is saved.
Adding or editing time registrations in the task board
Whichever setting you prefer for Time registration from the task board, you can always add more registrations by clicking on the clock icon to open the registration form.
In the detail dialog (Click on the name of a subtask to open it), on the right is an overview of the registrations made for a subtask. They can be edited or removed here as well.
